Field Systems Engineer (Customer Deployments)

Amara Technology Consultancy is looking for a mid to senior level Field Systems Engineer to deploy, operate, and troubleshoot our software products in large-scale customer environments.
This role is hands-on, customer-facing, and product-centric, working closely with engineering, support, and client technical teams. The role might be a good fit for an ex. system administrator or devops.

You will be responsible for on-site deployments, hardware setup, system configuration, and production troubleshooting across Linux and Windows environments.

This position requires relocation to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The company provides relocation support - flight tickets, visa, and medical insurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the product development lifecycle, providing feedback from real-world deployments
  • Design server architectures and perform capacity planning for customer installations
  • Travel to customer sites to install, configure, and support hardware and software
  • Deploy, configure, and manage Linux and Windows server-based applications
  • Set up and operate backend services and databases, including:
    • MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Redis, MinIO
  • Configure and maintain web servers (e.g. nginx)
  • Write and maintain deployment and automation scripts
  • Troubleshoot deployment, performance, and availability issues in production environments
  • Manage hardware lifecycle, OS upgrades, patches, and system hardening
  • Design and maintain High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions
  • Perform backups and restore operations when required
  • Collect customer feedback and translate it into actionable support tickets
  • Produce clear and structured technical documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in system deployment, operations, or field engineering
  • Strong spoken and written English
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred; helpful for work visa processing)
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and environments
  • Solid understanding of computer networking fundamentals
  • Practical experience with Python, PowerShell, or another scripting language
  • Strong command of Linux CLI tools and system administration
  • Experience configuring Linux firewalls
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft server technologies, including:
    • IIS, DNS/DHCP, Active Directory
  • Solid understanding of Active Directory security and delegation
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.)
  • Experience deploying and troubleshooting JVM-based applications
  • Experience with Docker and containerized deployments
  • Ability to quit vim
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable interacting with customers, developers, and management

Salary Bracket

Monthly 13,000-18,000 AED based on the interview results.
